Last night's Playoff Wildcard came between the Orioles and Blue Jays in Toronto was nothing short of scintillating. The atmosphere in the Rogers Centre was absolutely electric and the crowd was in a frenzy from the first pitch to Edwin Encarnacion's walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th.
One Blue Jays fan got carried away in the bottom of the 7th though, throwing a can of beer at Orioles outfielder Hyun Soo Kim while he tracked down a fly ball, and reportedly yelling racial slurs at him and Baltimore's center fielder, Adam Jones.
The person who threw the beer was never identified, though Jones is still hopeful they'll find and charge him.
Per USA Today:
“I was trying to catch the ball and I thought that was actually a ball, so I thought I missed the ball,” Kim said through interpreter Danny Lee. “And then I found out it was a beer can, which was thrown [right at] me. It never happened to me before so it was surprising. I was kind of shocked.”
“That’s about as pathetic as it gets,’’ said Jones.
"You don’t do that. I don’t care how passionate you are. Yell. Cuss. Scream. Say we suck. We’re horrible. We get it. We’re the opponent. We completely understand that.
“I hope they find the guy and press charges. He’s not looking. You could hit him in the back of the head and you have no idea what could happen. That’s a full beer that’s being thrown.
“Throw an octopus. Throw hats.’’
