Dae Dae's "Wat U Mean (Family To Feed)" has grown from a regional Atlanta hit to accumulating over 17 million plays on YouTube. His follow-up, "Spend It," has also earned him an all-star remix courtesy of Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz, priming the rapper to be the next breakout artist from his city. Dae Dae has walked us through his recent success in the new episode of our On The Come-Up series, as he recalls doing open mics, hearing himself on the radio for the first time, and pairing with the 300 label.
His main drive throughout was supporting his four children, inspiring the title for his mixtape, 4 Reasons. "The reason I'm doing this is for my family, for my kids," he says. He also spoke of his signature blue braids. " I ain't see anyone with this color when I first did it," he reveals. "As soon as I dyed it, everybody get to doing it."
As for what's next, look out for his upcoming tape with London On Da Track, The Definition.
