Mick Jenkins is in a lane of his own these days, whether it's his prowess with lyrics or his beat selection, there aren't too many rappers embodying hip-hop like he is. As the rapper readies his new album, The Healing Component for release at the end of next week, he's made a quick trip to New York where he sat down with Hot 97.
The Hot 97 interview kicks off with some discussion of old school cats that inspired Mick, leading into a conversation about mumble rap/rappers, and how Mick feels about that genre. For the people who claim hip-hop is dead and all that exists is mumble rap, Mick says, "you're not really looking, you don't have to look too far."
Of course, Mick has to spit some bars following that serious conversation. Take a look. Be sure to cop The Healing Component on September 23rd.
