After having Tory Lanez on The Breakfast Club yesterday, the latest Power 105.1 guests are an OG hip-hop group, De La Soul, minus Maseo. The group are prepping a new album, which has been funded directly by the fans, Anonymous Nobody…, due out tomorrow. Ahead of the album's release, they chop it up with The Breakfast Club about their lengthy careers and more.
They kick off the interview with a discussion about their early days, and labels pushing them or wanting them to be more like what was popping at the time (gangster rap). They also speak about their popularity versus the popularity of fellow '90s-born rap group A Tribe Called Quest, and how spending more time in Europe than in North America might have had an impact on their reach.
Check out the 27-minute interview.
