Last week, Houston OG Trae tha Truth dropped a new mixtape full of freestyles, titled Another 48 Hours. The sequel to his 2011 tape 48 Hours, the project conjured up memories of the storied freestyle sessions that went down in DJ Screw's crib. It was released on the 20th anniversary of Screw's legendary 35-minute "June 27" freestyle, which featured many members of the Screwed Up Click. Today is another holiday -- Trae's birthday, and he's used the occasion to share the first video off Another 48 Hours -- to the track "Ridin Top Dine."
The slow, hypnotic "Ridin Top Dine" instrumental sounds like it could've been cooked up by Screw himself. Hearing Trae's deep, husky raps -- which need no post-production effects -- is a reminder that he came up with the Screwed Up Click and has been holding it dine for his city ever since. The new video shows him visiting his local barbershop for a fresh cut and shave and then riding around his city in his gorgeous candy red slab. He pops up the trunk to reveal a neon sign that reads, "THIS WHY YA HOE MI55IN." Indeed.
