A couple of weeks after sharing his new dancehall-inspired summer single, Tyga has dropped off the "1 of 1" video, which takes place in Kingston, Jamaica. The song seemed to be Tyga's attempt at emulating the island flows that Drake has become known for as of late, and indeed, "1 of 1" bore an immediate likeness to "Controlla" both in its instrumental and vocal arrangement. Tyga is of Jamaican heritage, though, and with the new video, he intends to show his love and respect for the island's culture. Beginning with a voiceover narration, Tyga says, "What some see as dirty and unfortunate, we see beauty, love, and God."
He and his boys were looking for a vacation, but Tyga unwittingly found a reason to extend his trip. "That's when I met Amina," says T-raww, as a blonde "bad ting" soon emerges from the azure sea. This woman -- Amina Blue (a tatted-up IG model whose page rivals Kylie's) -- is Tyga's new "1 of 1."
There's an cinematic interlude late into the video (another tactic that has been used in Jamaica by a certain someone), and it turns out that Amina is the governor's daughter. He, and his heavily-armed envoy, doesn't want her to associate with an American rudeboy like Tyga, who must then decide if he's ready to risk it all for his "1 of 1."
Drake hasn't directly addressed the song, though he recently made light of its title by putting up an Instagram picture of RiRi lit up in the center of a massive stadium and referring to her as his "One of One." He ain't lying.
