Millions upon millions were just tuned in to Game 7, and the big corporations came ready with big-budget commercials curated especially for tonight's game. One of the most memorable -- and questionable -- ads came from Verizon, who enlisted Jamie Foxx to play an old man with a white beard, black dreads, and an outfit that looks like a thrift shop version of what Future might wear. And it so happens that this man's name is "Past," aka Future's father. The song opens with a Lex Luger-like intro and then goes into a generic trap beat filled with the 808 Mafia sirens.
Foxx attempts to emulate Future's auto-tuned "Commas" flow and raps about how he prefers Verizon to ATT&T. He then goes on a senile rant, and ends with the odd slogan, "It ain't about can you hear me now, it's about can you see me now." The ad is telling of how big Future has gotten and also of the lengths Foxx is willing to go for a paycheck these days.
