In many ways Atlanta is the most active city in rap right now, and much of that has to do with the prolific and boundary-pushing stable of producers in the city. In a new Red Bull lecture, three of the most well-known beatmakers in the city join rap writer Andrew Noz to talk about their city's creative community, and their respective catalogues.
Each of the producers spoke of their beginnings in music, the origin of the trap genre, the hits that began their careers, as well as their evolving recording setups. If you've been a fan of Gucci Mane, Future, or pretty much any other rapper from Atlanta over the last 5 years, it's an essential watch.
