Kaytranada's recent video to "Glowed Up," starring Anderson .Paak, is one of the year's most imaginative visual trips, and now Paak is back with an incredible new video that combines two tracks off his January album Malibu. Well, it incorporates three tracks considering that "The Season / Carry Me" is a two-in-one song itself. The new video also includes the track "The Waters," featuring BJ the Chicago Kid, who also shows up here.
The video, directed by Chris Le and Paak himself, makes use of images similar to the Malibu album artwork. It puts Paak and his friends in front of stunning mixed-media backgrounds, largely made up of collages of old photographs. Stop motion animation also comes into play as Paak moves between different worlds. Paak plays many different roles according to the visual art he finds himself in front of, encountering strange creatures -- including a trash monster with the head of Donald Trump -- along the way. Fittingly, the segment to "The Waters" mostly sticks to an aquatic theme.
