Drake Day is upon us: VIEWS has arrived. With such an album that has generated a nearly unprecedented amount of hype over the course of several months, the impulse is to consume the album immediately upon its release. The reality is, it take a few days or weeks to fully process VIEWS album. On the flip side, it is easier to identify the most clever, insightful, memorable lyrical moments.
From "Keep the Family Close" to "Hotline Bling," we went through every song on VIEWS and selected the most quotable lyrics from each song. Click the gallery to see our choices... any changes you'd make?
"Keep the Family Close"
Drake's album opener is a reflection on his circle friends, or lack thereof-- instead he relies only on family. It's soothing with bursts of hard-hitting drums, and a few subtweet-worthy lines.
"All of my "let's just be friends" are friends I don't have anymore"
"And even when it's business with you it's personal again"
"9"
Drizzy had to go switch the 6 to a 9 on us, while sharing some insight as to the lengths the media will go to get a story on him, seeing how influential he is in the 6 9. However you can apply this one to any fakes you encounter.
"If they don't have a story these days, they'll make one"
"U With Me?"
This one's for all the ladies playing game with young Drizzy. You know how emotional the man is, don't LOLOL at him.
"On some DMX shit, I group DM my exes"
"What type of games are bein' played?"
"Feel No Ways"
With production from Jordan Ullman, it's no surprise that this record falls in line with Majid Jordan's sound, and their previous collaborations with Drake like "Just Hold On We're Going Home" and "My Love."
"There's more to life than sleeping in and getting high with you"
"Hype"
Finally, six songs deep we get the rappity-rap Drake. With that comes a few status-worthy quotables.
"My enemies wanna be friends with my other enemies"
"I feel like Juelz Santana, leg hangin' out the Phantom"
"West Road Flows"
Yeesh. Keeping the hype going from "Hype," Drake went in even further here. Quotables abound.
"Lookin' in the mirror I'm closer than I really appear"
"Your best day is my worst day, I get green like Earth Day"
"You treat me like I'm born yesterday, you forgot my birthday"
"But I'm happiest when I can buy what I want, get high when I want"
"Redemption"
"Redemption" served up some very-Drake-like quotables. That's probably not surprising though, given the fact that the record is about Drake's past relationships (what song isn't).
"This year for Christmas I just want apologies"
"I'm a walkin' come-up, I'm a bank deposit, Sell my secrets and get top dollar"
"Master bedroom's where we get it poppin', just ignore all the skeletons in my closet"
"With You"
Okay, I lied. If you thought the "Redemption" quotables were so-Drake, well, this quotable probably one up's that.
"My love's locked down and you cuffing it"
"Mixing vodka and emotions, tapping into your emotions, dry cry cause I'm hopeless"
"Still Here"
Drake picks up the album's pace again with "Still Here," and with that, he also gets his brag-rhymes on. He's gotta stunt on us sometimes.
"I can't fuck with you no more cause you be actin' extra"
"Nothing mutual about my funds"
"All you n*ggas fightin' over crumbs, where the bread at"
"Faithful"
A Pimp C-featured cut about being in love with one lady and only one (well, and remaining faithful to her, or at least trying to).
"That pussy knows me better than I know myself"
"Controlla"
Yet another record about being faithful to Drake and vice versa, and more subtweet gold for yall.
"But you can't just diss and come tell me sorry"
"You can't listen to me talk and go tell my story"
"One Dance"
This radio-friendly single didn't elicit too many quotables, but you can definitely repurpose the line below.
"Soon as you see the text, reply me"
"Grammys"
As Drake and Future big-up their squads and their success, there's one particular line that stands-out as the perfect Instagram caption.
"Heard you never claimed the hood, hear the hood claimed you"
"Child's Play"
Starting off with a skit that advises men that any woman attending a season opener basketball game must by extension be fucking a player on the team, Drake then advises his own women on how to act with him.
"This is not a fairytale, I already know how you like it"
"Why you gotta fight with me at Cheesecake, you know I love to go there"
"Don't make me give you back to the hood"
"Pop Style"
"Pop Style" is another opportunity for stunting Drake, and without Kanye West and Jay Z on the album version, his rhymes may hit even harder. These three particular lyrics work well for any of your caption needs- Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook (if you still do that).
"Got so many chains they call me Chaining Tatum"
"All I do is hang with the young and heartless"
"I can't trust no fuckin' body"
"Too Good"
Drake puts his focus back on relationships, or relationships gone awry, with his dance hall-influenced collaboration featuring once-rumored-bae Rihanna. The result is quotables to direct to your bae.
"Don't play the victim when you're with me"
"Free time is costing me more than it seems"
"I wanna get the late night message from you"
"Last night I got high as your expectations"
"Summer's Over Interlude"
Although it's just an interlude, there's a quotable in there.
"Found me some fun that's good for the pain"
"Fire & Desire"
More lines for a potential lover, or actual lover. Although Drake raps about being faithful quite frequently, this one's for a woman who's being unfaithful.
"But you get real on a pill and I like it"
"You a real ass woman and I like it"
"Views"
The title track has a surprising amount of quotables. The soulful joint finds Drake reflecting on his past growing up in Toronto, as well as his current, almost overwhelming, success.
"The paranoia can start to turn into arrogance"
"Need y'all to know that I never needed none of y'all n*ggas"
"Fuck being all buddy buddy with the opposition"
"It's like a front of the plane, nigga, it's all business"
"You don't worry 'bout fitting in when you custom made"
"I keep it 100 like I'm running a fever"
"I might take a breather but I won't ever leave you"
"Hotline Bling"
The album closes out with the bonus record that served as a single early on. I'm sure you know the quotable from this one. We obviously had to include it.
"You used to call me on my cell phone"
