The lack of diversity among this year's Oscar noms has an analog across the pond -- the lack of grime artists nominated for the 2016 BRIT Awards. Stormzy, one of the most revered rappers on the grime scene, had this to say: "It was such a great year for Grime and underground music,” he said. “I thought maybe this year it might get celebrated."
If Stormzy seemed reserved in expressing his disappointment, it's because he was saving his venom for a new song "One Take Freestyle." Rocking the track suit, the official uniform of grime artists everywhere, he takes to the streets of Tokyo to unleash his fury over an original beat from Ghetts and Rude Kid.
"None of my Gs nominated for Brits," he raps. "Are you taking a piss? Embarrassing."
He continues: “Last year, they told the mandem that to be nominated you've gotta go on UK charts / So what do we do? We chart / Don’t come here with your lies, don't start."
