J. Cole is back, and he's stirring the pot. Yesterday, a new album of his, entitled 4 Your Eyez Only, showed up on iTunes with a December 9 release date, and last night, the Dreamville rapper shared a 40-minute Tidal documentary called "Eyez." The documentary brought with it new music from 4 Your Eyez Only, including a song and accompanying music video -- tentatively titled "False Prophets" -- that seems to find Cole addressing Kanye West and his unraveling mental state. On Wednesday (Nov. 30), Kanye returned home after spending nine days in the hospital due to a mental breakdown. He was admitted after a series of strange rants during a few particularly disorderly "Saint Pablo" shows.
Is "False Prophets" a diss track or is it a case of Cole simply laying down a harsh reality? Was it foul play for him to (seemingly) comment on Kanye's mental state so soon after his worrisome breakdown? Cole's new track, and its implications of Kanye West (and possibly also Drake), is all the rage on Rap Twitter right now. Cole fans clearly feel that "False Prophets" is evidence of an imminent Dreamville takeover. He and Drake will obviously be battling it out for the biggest release of December.
