Don Mykel's King Mykel: The Rebirth EP, released in November, was huge in getting his name out of his native Harlem. Before he graces fans with another project, Mykel has created a visual to go along with one of the EP's top tracks, "Ghetto Lullaby."
The track is a detailed and engrossing depiction of Mykel's hood, and it ends with a tale of how a lack of parenting led to a young woman having a child of her own. It's much more nuanced than that, though, and there's really no summary that will do justice to Mykel's multilayered storytelling on "Ghetto Lullaby."
The video's ability to mix neon city lights with bleak black and white shots provides the perfect visual counterpart to Mykel's raps, which are bursting with color even in dealing with tragic subject matter.
