Robitussin Ad Takes Cue From Future's "Dirty Sprite 2"

Robitussin's new commercial appears to have a "DS2" inspiration.

Future famously grabbed the cover art for his Dirty Sprite 2 off Shutterstock, a move that was duplicated for the What A Time to be Alive cover art too. DS2, though, is more overtly a lean-influenced project, from title to cover art to songs. While Actavis may have discontinued production, abusers/users looking for lean can find some assistance in Robitussin. While it's not advocated as much as Actavis in rap (no promethazine-codeine), Robistussin has received it's fair share of shout-outs, including one from Drake on "Jumpman."

The brand's new commercial seems to be a direct nod at Future's DS2 though, with a man in an elevator coughing out what can only be described as the swell of blue and purple that appears on the cover art of Dirty Sprite 2. Is this some sort of inside joke for hip-hop fans? Take a look above.
