Goldlink compares "And After That, We Didn't Talk" to his previous project "God Complex."

We sat down with GoldLink to discuss the making of his debut album And After That, We Didn't TalkHe made the album in a month, hunkered down in a DMV studio with his main producer Louie Lastic.

Of "Spectrum," arguably the album's foremost banger, GoldLink said, "that track was supposed to be like a timeline of when I first met the girl that I fell in love with up until the time that I am in today. Every bar meant something. I was telling a story the entire time. From the age of like 16 to 21."

GoldLink says he conceived AATDWT as a sort of prequel to The God Complex, his previous project. The God Complex was "bragadocious and bold," a memoir of a particularly turbulent chapter of GoldLink's life, and AATWDT was an effort put that braggadocio in context by telling the life chapter that came before it.
