Jazz Cartier turned heads earlier in 2015 when he dropped his debut mixtape Marauding In Paradise, original take on the trap aesthetic. Cartier's episode of "On the Come Up" explores his nomadic childhood, the making of Marauding in Paradise, his plans for the future, and more.
Cartier moved around a lot as a child -- A LOT. He attended 13 different schools, from Idaho to Barbados, from Connecticut to Kuwait. But he was always drawn to Toronto, his birthplace, and he moved back there at age 18 to pursue a career in music.
Marauding in Paradise took 4 years to make, and Cartier feels that he's separated himself as a result of that work. "Anybody coming out of Toronto," he said, "we're not in the same tier."
