Kevin Gates' upcoming album, Islah, will be his first released via a major label this coming winter. Slated for release on December 11th, I'd say it'd be his 'most personal yet' because it's named after his daughter, but really, what Kevin Gates album isn't personal?
When we had the Baton Rouge by the office recently, he spoke on naming the album after his first daughter Islah, and how important it is to provide for his children, whether or not they're biologically related to him.
"I've always taken care of children, I got partners that got a life sentence at a young age so I had to step up to the plate and take care of their children. I've always been a caretaker of young people. If I wasn't doing this, I wouldn't be able to provide for my children," Gates says. "Then it puts things into perspective, like if I ever want to go buy a chain? Then I have to be really, really rich, cause I have too many responsibilities to blow money on jewelry or a car or anything like that." Respect.
