A few weeks ago, we heard about a lesson put together at New Jersey's High Tech High School, which used Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly as its subject. Mr. Mooney, the english teacher who organized the class, wrote a blog post about the experience, and it eventually made its way to Kendrick, who instantly decided to visit the students.
NPR documented the occasion, which finds Lamar participating in an in-class cypher, offering feedback at a poetry reading, and finishing things off with an inspired performance of TPAB highlight, "Alright". The clip also features plenty of students talking about what the Kendrick album means to them.
