Next week, Scottish producer Hudson Mohawke will release Lantern, his first solo full-length since 2009's Butter, but first, he's dropped one last track from it. Preceded by "Ryderz," "Very First Breath" and "Scud Books," here's "Warriors," featuring Ruckazoid and Devaeux.
The second of five tracks featuring guest vocals on the album, "Warriors" bears very little resemblance to the aggro-trap that Mohawke popularized with TNGHT and his production work on Yeezus. That's indicative of Lantern as a whole (save for "Scud Books" and one or two other instrumentals)-- this time around, he's more ambitious and pop-focused. With stellar, sky-cracking vocal performances from Ruckazoid and Devaeux, this track is one of the most anthemic and uplifting pieces of music you'll hear all year.
