G.R.A.M.Z. is a rapper who hails from Flatbush, Brooklyn, but in the video that serves as his HNHH debut, he's out in Santa Monica creeping around the boardwalk. "John Carpenter" is the first track he's sharing from his upcoming "short conceptual album" Escape From NY, which was "conceived and born amongst LA's warm weather and sticky greens."
That being said, "warmth" is the last thing on our minds after watching the video. The song shares its name with the most acclaimed horror score composer of our time (with whom G.R.A.M.Z. says he'd love to collaborate), and so it's fitting that the song begins with eerie, cold walls of synth static. Over it, G.R.A.M.Z. weaves in and out of slick rhyme schemes, making one verse seem more substantial than usual in this short clip.
This dude's got very promising skills, artistic direction and vision, so keep your eye on him.
