Back in January, the hip-hop world was blindsided by the death of A$AP mob founder, ASAP Yams. Last week, the medical examiner revealed that the cause of Yams’ death was an acute drug intoxication, which included a mix of opiates & benzodiazepine.
Well down at SXSW last week, Rocky caught up with MTV News’ Nadeska Alexis and decided to open up about the night Yams died in this exclusive chat. During the emotional 2-minute clip, Rocky acknowledges Yams’ struggle with drugs, but believes that his sleep apnea complicated things further. Rocky details,
“He choked on his vomit. He suffocated on his vomit in his sleep. If it was drugs in his body or not, he still suffocated off his vomit."
"I remember one time my manager wanted to get him a face [mask] for when you sleep because he would be choking on his own tongue. And this ain’t me justifying it.”
