The Dipset boss speaks on past tensions with the Roc-A-Fella co-founder.

In an interview with ThisIs50, Dipset CEO and rapper Freekey Zekey is immediately grilled on the longstanding tensions between Dipset and Jay Z. Apparently when Dipset came over to Roc-A-Fella in 2001, Jay Z largely ignored the crew, instead focusing on other artists on his roster. Cam'Ron tried for months, to no avail, to get Hov in the studio during the recording of his Come Home With Me album. Jay finally agreed, and they recorded "Welcome to New York City". Immediately after, Jay Z requested that the song be the lead single off Cam'Ron's album, which Dipset took as disrespect.

Freekey goes on to mention that the "Oh Boy" beat was originally meant for Jay Z, but, after having spent months on the shelves, Cam snatched it, and came up with one of his (and the Roc's) all-time biggest hits. He then discloses that Hov tried to get on the "Oh Boy" remix, but they deleted his verse as soon as he left the studio.

Toward the end of the interview, the Dipset boss says, surprisingly, there's no longer any bad blood between his camp and Jay.

How would "Oh Boy" have done in Jigga's hands? Sadly, we didn't even get a remix.
