A couple of upcoming freshman wide receivers on the Florida Gators' football team were arrested last night and charged with criminal mischief for damaging property of more than $1,000, a third-degree felony, and "shooting a missile inside an occupied dwelling", a second-degree felony.
According to the bizarre report, Tyrie Cleveland and Rick Wells caused $1,000 worth of damage by firing bb guns at the Keys Residential housing complex on the University of Florida campus. BB guns sounds a lot more innocent than "missiles" but that's not how it was described in the official police report.
A UF Police Department report said an officer was sent to Keys Residential at 11:30 p.m. Friday and observed three windows had been shattered and had a small, round hole in each. A review of video surveillance revealed two males shooting at someone at around 6:45 p.m.
Wells would admit his wrongdoing to the officer and turned over the BB gun. The two players then were arrested and booked at 3:38 a.m. Monday.
Tyrie Cleveland is the number one offensive recruit (ranked 2nd in the nation for WRs) and, like Rick Wells, is among five receivers in the 2016 class though it's unclear what form of punishment they'll face from the team, and the University.
