It appears that we've fully entered the era of rappers turning pro fighters. First, Wiz Khalifa stated his willingness to fight in the ring, and now 50 Cent is continuing to fuel rumors of his own debut as a professional MMA fighter.
50 already got the rumor train rolling earlier this month, when he called out MMA legend Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, in a now-deleted Instagram post. In the post, 50 wrote, "DON’T GET IT FUCKED UP IM THE BADDEST JACKSON AROUND THIS MOTHERFUCKER. NOW IF WE CAN GET THE MONEY RIGHT RAMPAGE GOT A PROBLEM ON HIS HANDS." He then posted a photo of himself and Bellator president Scott Coker, presumably in the midst of signing some kind of business deal.
According to Complex, that wasn't the end of it. On Saturday, Coker posted a picture of him and 50 attending last weekend's Bellator 199 event, fueling the rumors further. Though, according to Coker, they don't have any kind of business relationship.
"Listen, there’s no business relationship between 50 and us. He came as a fan," said Coker in an interview with MMA Junkie, "When he wants to bring some muscle to a promotion like he helped us with this, he did a great job. We should all thank him. It’s good for MMA."
However, don't content to let any sort of hype go to waste, 50 Cent posted yet another picture of the two of them together, this time with the caption, "lf we can get this right, it would be big."
If 50 and Coker are planning to get 50 in the ring, he's right that it would be huge.
