Lupe Fiasco did not hold back on the track lengths for his latest studio album, Tetsuo & Youth, breaching the 8 minute mark 3 times over the course of the album, and reaching 6 minutes or so just about everywhere else.
While it seemed Fiasco simply didn't put limitations on his creativity, an interview with Sway reveals that he actually feels "Chopper" is "too damn long", explaining that when he commissioned verses for the project, he sent out 32 bar instrumentals, and while he expected to get 16s back, all sic collaborators filled out the complete set of bars.
He also goes on to explain the process in which he recorded singles for Atlantic, and how those ended up shaping the harder songs on the album.
