Kendrick Lamar had the honor of being the final musical guest on "The Colbert Report" Tuesday night where he took to the stage to perform a never before heard record for the audience.
With Terrace Martin & Thundercat backing up K.Dot on the sax and bass, Lamar rocked his braids and performed a brand new Astronote-produced record that will presumably live on his sophomore album.
Prior to this performance however, Kendrick took a few minutes out of his time to sit down with Colbert and discuss his Compton roots, Dr. Dre, and why he prefers to be called a writer instead of a rapper. “I pride myself on that. It’s more storytelling than actually rhyming words together,” he explained.
Watch K Dot debut the new record around the 4:05 mark above. Thoughts on the track?
