"I just love Bowie; I think he's the ultimate inventor," says Abel.

The Weeknd was revealed to be the subject of a massive Wall Street Journal profile today, and the piece finds the Toronto singer revealing a little bit about the various influences on the upcoming follow-up to Beauty Behind The Madness. For instance, as some have suspected, Abel revealed that the title of the LP, Starboy, is inspired by David Bowie's 70's hit, "Starman."

"I just love Bowie; I think he's the ultimate inventor," he said. He also revealed that he made plans to work with prince at his Paisley Park studio shortly before the songwriter's unexpected death earlier this year.

Later on, Abel commented spoke of Daft Punk, who played a role in the writing process of the album. "Their studio is like a spaceship; there's a lot of gear," he said. "But the way they make music, the way they explain it, is very cinematic. It's like they're reading a page out of a novel – 'We want to make sure that at the end, it feels like the sun's coming up, and maybe there's a car chase.' They can get technical, but it was interesting how they visualize making music."

You can read the full profile at the Wall Street Journal. Look out for the 18-track album to drop November 25th.
