One of the sure highlights from Jose Guapo's July tape Cash Talk 4 was "Alone," an auto-tune-led banger produced by Beetle Juice. Today, the track gets a video.
It's here that we can begin to see some definite overlap between what trap artists in Atlanta are doing and the more melodic side of Chicago's drill scene. On "Alone," Guapo sounds more like Lil Durk than anyone else, although the production behind him is more in that zany, Zaytoven wheelhouse than the more unforgiving Chicago sound.
"Alone" is a product of rap's blurred regional lines in the 2010s, and a fine example it is.
