The new video for Rayven Justice's Waka Flocka Flame-assisted track "Slide Thru" has just arrived, and with it comes a couple of linguistics-related questions.
The first of these deals with the way the spelling of the word "Thru" affects its pronunciation. Like Drake's "Come Thru," this spelling seems to warrant a sharper utterance, coming out almost more like "dru" than "through." Strange.
The second involves Flocka's verse and Blood slang. Taking cues from the gang's habit of switching hard "c" sounds out for "b"s (a la YG's "Bickin Back Bein Bool"), Flock rhymes "brazy" with "crazy," kind of defeating this purpose.
Anyway, they're rhetorical questions for now, but interesting all the same!
