BJ The Chicago Kid may be more familiar to you as the guy who's lent hooks to Schoolboy Q, Freddie Gibbs, Chance The Rapper and Kendrick Lamar than as an accomplished solo artist, but damn, the dude seems to have enough talent to carry an entire discography, let alone a track, on his own. His latest, "Real Love Never Dies," has gotten a video today.
Shot in a recording space, the black and white video shows BJ and his band performing the very D'angelo-esque track. The song is based around James Brown's spoken word epic "King Heroin," but BJ's voice is much higher and smoother than the Godfather of Soul's.
By the look and sound of it, BJ The Chicago Kid is ready for a bigger role than your favorite rapper's go-to hooksmith.
