Playboi Carti has been steadily gaining hype over the last year, but as far as anyone knew, he hadn't yet inked a deal. Of course, these things can always be done quietly, and while it's not clear exactly when it happened, ASAP Rocky has revealed that Carti has a brand new major label deal.
"Listen, this n*gga Playboi Carti, man. It's a good time for this n*gga," said Rocky at a recent show, as Carti stood beside him. "Just got signed to Interscope and shit. He 'bout to fuck shit up."
The rapper has been closely linked with ASAP over the last little while, and also got the chance to perform his new single, "What," at last week's GOOD Music pop-up show in New York.
Carti may have a major label debut somewhere in the near future, but before then, he'll be following the proven strategy of dropping a mixtape first. The still unnamed project will be his very first full-length, though he's dropped a wealth of standalone records on SoundCloud.
