If you're looking for enigmatic, idiosyncratic MCs, you'd be hard-pressed to find a trio that fits the description more so than Busdriver, Aesop Rock and Danny Brown, all of whom link up on "Ego Death." Taken from Busdriver's upcoming album Perfect Hair, the track has now gotten a fittingly batshit video.
With each rapper taking the track in very different directions on their respective verses, "Ego Death" could have suffered from a lack of consistency, but all three are skilled enough to make sure that doesn't happen. Busdriver comes off like a more indie-friendly version of Tech N9ne, Aesop has a line about an "analog poly-mono man-of-war," and Danny calls himself the "rap Marilyn Manson." If we're talking motley crews, this has to be one of the best in recent memory.
