New York's Bishop Nehru is someone who needs to be on your radar, and not just because he's one of the first MCs Nas signed to his new Mass Appeal imprint. Dude can straight up spit, as is evidenced in "Darkness (HBU)," the first track we've heard from his upcoming project with masked legend DOOM.
Unfortunately, this track doesn't feature any vocals from Mr. Metal Face, but his delightfully warped production and Nehru's dense lyrics are more than enough to carry "Darkness (HBU)." Interestingly enough, the song begins with pitched-up vocals reminiscent of Quasimoto, the alter ego of onetime DOOM collaborator Madlib. It could just be Nehru's voice run through the same filter though.
The duo's joint project, NehruvianDOOM, is out later this year.
