Vic Mensa surprised everyone with his latest single, "Down On My Luck", a very uncompromising take on UK dance music. Vic keeps his swift delivery, but applies it to an entirely sung verse and chorus, complete with instrumental breaks and beat drops.
Despite the european feel of the track, the beat comes courtesy of Stefan Ponce, who hails from Chicago (another notable hub of electronic music), and also contributed to Chance The Rapper's Juke-influenced "Good Ass Intro".
The frantic visuals find Mensa on a night out at the club, as he interacts with people, and gets his drink spiked, Rick Ross-style (but he knows it).
