There was a time when it was tough for rappers to get in the hot seat with Oprah-- unless they were ready to get lectured. Things have changed however, and the seasoned television host has opened her mind to hip hop in recent years, most recently giving Pharrell a sit-down interview.
Pharrell doesn't exactly identify as a rapper these days (though he did absolutely slay his verse on Future's "Move That Dope"), and in a new preview from the interview, he addresses his feelings about playing the background role to a lot of emcees over the last decade.
According to Skateboard P, he had accepted his role as a songwriter and producer by the time he was working with the big names, and also expressed regret over his first solo venture-- In My Mind.
Look out for the full interview very soon.
