In an interview with radio show "Voice of the I.E." on 99.1 KGGI, Kendrick Lamar spoke on his early career doing rap battles, as well as Kim Kardashian.
"I first started rapping at school as soon as [The Clipse's] "Grindin" came out," Kendrick revealed. "That was the beat to do. Eighth grade. No, ninth grade."
He continued, "I started off [freestyling]. I mastered that. I stopped doing that when I was eighteen. I stopped doing it; I started writing all my thoughts down now, because I feel like it started to become a trend - everyone wanted to talk about they don't write."
When asked his thoughts on Kim K, Kendrick said he'd pass on that, ""Nah, that's worn out," he responded. "Kim K? Nah. I don't wanna go behind that. Kanye, he havin' fun with it that."
He also gives advice to those artists who want to be put on by him, and he says they have to put in the same type of work that he put in, Kendrick's not giving any hand-outs.
