Given Kanye West’s no-filter personality these days, one would think he wouldn’t care much about a measly 20-foot mural. Not the case though, at least according to a report from ABC Australia. The news site has reported that Kanye’s camp is quite unhappy with the presence of a large mural in Sydney, Australia, which depicts Kanye West making out with himself. They’ve apparently offered a good sum of money to have the artist remove it.
A bit of background about the mural. It’s based on a photoshopped picture of Kanye West kissing Kim Kardashian that replaced Kim’s head with her husband's. Obviously, this is hilarious, and Kanye didn’t really pay it any mind until it went viral as a physical art piece.
However Scott Marsh, the artist who created the photo, was apparently not happy with Yeezy’s original offer to paint over the the mural. Instead, he’s requested $100,000 and a lifetime supply of Yeezy Boost sneakers in order to remove the artwork from Sydney’s Chippendale neighborhood. He’s selling a painted over print of the artwork here, and says that "it's an open invitation to Kanye. If he buys that print then I'll paint over the mural." So far, 'Ye hasn't bitten.
Kanye seems a bit out of touch with this whole situation. Doesn’t he realize that even if he gets rid of the physical artwork, memes are forever?
