At least 75 people are dead following the senseless terrorism act in Nice, France earlier today.

For news we hate reporting, it appears our world has seen another senseless act of terrorism today overseas in Europe. According to many reports & Mayor Christian Estrosi, at least 75 people are dead and an unknown number injured (which is rumored to be near 60) after a truck crashed into a large crowd at a Bastille Day celebration in Nice, France earlier today.

The vehicle, which was a large box truck, allegedly rammed into a crowd of people watching the Bastille Day parade from the Promenade des Anglaisin, a famous landmark in Nice. Authorities are apparently calling it a terrorist attack, even though they don’t know who’s exactly responsible for this horrific act.

Gunshots were reportedly also heard on scene, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet. According to the AP, a source on the scene reportedly saw the driver slam into the crowd and begin shooting. The shooter was then shot dead by police in the vehicle, not before killing “dozens” & injuring many more.

For those wondering what Bastille Day is, it’s similar to our 4th Of July. It celebrates the storming of the Bastille during the French Revolution in 1789. However, it’s usually celebrated with parades & fireworks, not acts of terrorism.

We’ll continue to update you as the story develops, but peep the tweets & clips from the scene below in the meantime.
