If you somehow have missed it on the news, the state of Texas is in a state of emergency right now as Hurricane Harvey whips through the state, causing massive destruction & water damage/flooding to pretty much the entire state, especially to those in the Houston area. So in efforts to help all those in need, comedian & actor Kevin Hart has started a new social media “challenge” called #HurricaneHarveyReliefChallenge, which found him asking his fans & celebrity friends to donate $25,000 to the cause.
“Im challenging a lot of my celebrity friends to follow my lead & donating $25,000 to Hurricane Harvey, to the Red Cross” Kev said. “At this point, this is a serious matter. I think the people are in bad shape, and they need help. Im gonna lead the charge and stepping up in this way.” Kev added while tagging the likes of Jay Z, Beyonce, The Rock, & Justin Timberlake to the post.
While many celebrities & fellow artists have already accepted Kev’s challenge, including Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, & DJ Khaled to name only a few, one rapper in particular, Master P, doesn’t think Kev should be strong arming his peers into donating $25K.
In a clip TMZ captured, Master P says he donated to the Red Cross, but doesn’t believe he nor others should say how much they gave. He believes they should give from their heart, and not make it a competition.
"Im blessed Kevin Hart made a donation, but I don't feel like he need to do that because it’s not necessary. A Lot of people are gon’ do what they want to do. It’s they’ money.” P said. “I Don't think you need to do that to other people. I mean just let them give from their heart” he added.
It’s pretty clear by the tone of Master P’s voice that he doesn’t mean any harm or bad blood by this statement. He just believes maybe not everyone has that $25,000 bread to donate like we may think, and calling them out isn't really necessary.
