Colin Kaepernick Gets Support From JR Smith: Video

JR Smith voiced his opinion about athletes speaking down on other athletes today, just one day after Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy said Colin Kaepernick is an OK football player who isn't really worth the distraction he brings.

Speaking to reporters yesterday, McCoy said, 

"You just got to look at all sides, like if I'm an owner, or the GM of a team, do I want to put him on my team? Is he good enough to be on the squad, to even deal with everything that's going on? That's something that I don't really partake in," McCoy said.

"Take a guy like Michael Vick who went  through all that he went through. He's 10 times better than Kaepernick. So you'll deal with that situation. You'll deal with that attention, the media aspect of it, the good the bad attention to it compared to Kaepernick, he's really not that good of a player."

This morning, JR Smith sent out a series of tweets, clearing motivated by McCoy's comments, regarding athletes who have not spoken highly of Kaepernick. He advised them to keep their mouths shut, or at least say it to Kaepernick personally rather than in the media. He later reiterated his message in a video posted to Uninterrupted in which Smith says, "We don't need to bring each other down."

Roughly 1,000 Kaepernick supporters rallied outside of the NFL's headquarters in New York City on Wednesday night, demanding that the free agent QB be signed by the start of the NFL's regular season just three weeks from now. JR, who has made it clear that he's with Kap, retweeted an ESPN article about the rally, as well as several other tweets containing images and footage of Kaepernick supporters.
