At the final Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor press conference in Las Vegas yesterday afternoon, World Boxing Council president, Mauricio Sulaiman, revealed the custom “Money Belt” that will be presented to the winner of Saturday's super welterweight fight at the T-Mobile Arena.
The "Money Belt" is an appropriate reward for the much anticipated fight which could become the most valuable money fight of all-time, eclipsing Mayweather's and Manny Pacquiao's May 2015 fight which brought in a record $623.5 million. Between ticket sales, ppv buys, sponsorship sales, merchandise sales and betting, it is expected that Mayweather vs. McGregor will certainly be in the $625 million ballpark.
And the "Money Belt" lives up to it's name too. As Mauricio Sulaiman explained during yesterday's press conference, the belt features 3,360 diamonds, 600 sapphires, 160 emeralds, over three pounds of solid, 24-karat gold and crocodile leather straight from Italy. This isn't the first time the World Boxing Council has created for a special edition belt for a Mayweather fight, they made a $1 million "Emerald Belt" for Floyd's fight against Manny Pacquiao back in 2015.
Mayweather and McGregor will come face to face once more before their fight on August 26th, at the weigh-in tomorrow afternoon in Las Vegas. Floyd Mayweather recently expressed concern that McGregor looked "extremely heavy" and wouldn't be able to meet the 154-pound weight limit. Conor, however, is not the least beat concerned. He told reporters yesterday,
"Tell him to shut his f--king mouth," he told reporters. "He knows nothing, fool of a thing. Let him keep praying. Praying for fatigue. Praying for me to take a back step. All he's doing is praying, but he's praying to the new God of boxing."
Tomorrow's weigh-in will reportedly include musical performances beginning at 1:30pm EST and the actual weigh in around 4:30pm EST, according to Bleacher Report. Although, nobody should expect anything involving these two showmen to start on time.
