In the latest development of DMX' long and unfortunate legal saga, a judge has given the Yonkers legend an ultimatum. TMZ reports that X will no longer have to be on house arrest, on the condition that he checks into a treatment center for substance abuse. If he agrees to the deal, X will be able to live his life without the confinements of an ankle bracelet.
In case you missed it, DMX was originally arrested for over fourteen counts of tax evasion. While X originally faced up to 44 years in prison, he managed to skate with a relatively lenient alternative. After an ongoing and tumultuous saga of being granted permission to travel and subsequently ignoring some of his required conditions, X found himself placed under house arrest over a failed drug test. Unfortunately, the limitations prevented him from earning wages to support his family, as a large percentage of X's income stems from live performances.
Now, X has found himself in somewhat of a good position, as attending a substance abuse recovery program will no doubt help with his mental health. And since his house arrest will be lifted, X can still travel outside of New York for work purposes, provided he requests permission from a judge prior to departing. And while he hasn't always followed that essential rule, hopefully he can get himself back on his feet, as the game is a better place when X is present. Pray for DMX, people. After It's Dark And Hell Is Hot, Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood, & And Then There Was X, it's the least we can do.
As of now, there's no word of where or when DMX's treatment will begin. If X is serious about making a few bags, it wouldn't be surprising to see a few tour dates pop up in the near future.
