Cardi B will be taking the stage at the VMA's pre-show.

To say it's been a huge summer for Cardi B would still be an understatement. The stripper turned reality star turned rapper has been making waves with her hit song "Bodak Yellow." As it's been pretty much impossible to avoid the hit, she recently made her way up to number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 with the song. It's a huge leap for Cardi, who recently purchased herself a brand new Bentley in celebration of the song's success. The song has been taking over everywhere, even overseas and now Cardi is about to take the song even further.

Earlier today, MTV announced that Cardi B will be one of three pre-show performers to kick off the VMA's. While it won't be on the main award show, if you're watching the red carpet events, Cardi B will be making her appearance and surely deliver a top-notch performance. She'll be kicking off the VMA party alongside R&B singer, Khalid and indie-pop group, Bleachers.

It's a major step for the Bronx rapper. She continues to push the single further and further. Over the past few weeks, the fan reception to "Bodak Yellow" has increased even leading to a Latin remix to the track being released. Cardi's on fire right now and the work she's put in prior to the single's release has played a factor in her success.

Over the course of this month, she's been a surprise guest at many shows. Earlier this month in Toronto, she popped up during two different sets. Once, she was a special guest at a Migos' set and then later, surprised fans at OVO Fest when she performed her hit single. She also popped by a 21 Savage show to perform it as well.

The VMA's should be interesting this weekend. We reported yesterday that Gucci Mane, Post Malone, Khalid & Logic will be performing during the main award show ceremony, they clearly tapped into setting the show off right with having Cardi B do the pre-show. Other artists scheduled to perform that evening are Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Fifth Harmony and more.
