Tyler, The Creator reflects on the past and present.

When Tyler, The Creator and his Odd Future collective first hit the scene, many felt as though the de-facto leader was undeniably talented, yet somewhat unfocused when it came to full length albums. However, as his discography grew, as did his artistic progression, and some of his hidden talents began to surface. For one, Tyler's ear for creative chord progressions and aptitude on the the piano keys, which was underused on the majority of his earlier work. As he grew more confident, his projects became increasingly evolved, culminating in his most recent project, Flower Boy.

With many calling Flower Boy Tyler's most mature album yet, much of the pre-release hype centered around an apparent confession. On the track "Garden Shed," Tyler alludes to a former male love interest, which led to many concluding that he was indeed bisexual. While Tyler has yet to pour his heart out in a tell-all interview, he recently hit up Know Wave's Koopz Tunes radio show to play some music and drop some knowledge.

Over the course of the hour and a half long interview, Tyler name drops 2 Chainz as his current favorite rapper and shows some love to "a weird black man, who talks about buying million dollar vehicles out of boredom," Mr. Pharrell Williams. If you're into Tyler's sense of humor, and his general outlook on art and music, this interview should be a goldmine.

Tyler also happens to make reference to an old flame, and stated "I had a boyfriend when I was fifteen in fucking Hawthorne. If that's not open minded, I don't know what is." Again, the interview does not center around Tyler's sexuality, but it's cool to see him becoming more open about it. While rap has yet to openly accept an openly gay rapper, Tyler is pretty well respected by many big names within the culture.

Check it out now, and if you haven't already, go listen to Flower Boy. It might just be his masterpiece.
