Bobby Shmurda has been behind bars since 2014.

Bobby Shmurda, the rapper behind the gigantic hit record "Hot N***a," looked like he had a bright future ahead of him in the music business. However, in 2014, he was jailed after he was convicted on gang conspiracy charges, with an sentence length of seven years. He also added four more years onto that earlier this year after being caught with a prison shank that was given to him by a visitor.

Today, new photos of the rapper have surfaced after having served three years of what is now a five-year plea deal at Rikers in New York.  While it's still unclear where or when the photos were taken, they don't seem like they've been taken on the grounds of the prison, given that Shmurda's attire in the images doesn't necessarily fit the profile of a convict. Posing in a polo shirt and jeans, the rapper's upper body looks more built and his hair has certainly grown out since the last time he was seen in public. Shmurda turned 23 on August 4th.

Bobby has already served 965 days behind bars. His lawyer, Alex Spiro, expects that he'll be released within three and a half years, assuming he's on his best behavior. His aforementioned anthem "Hot N***a" came from an album peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200, which led to him being signed with the Epic label.
