Kodak Black's music is getting played a lot in his home state.

A young rapper hailing from Pompano Beach is beginning to take the state of Florida by storm, not to mention the rest of the world, with his music. That man's name? Dieuson Octave. However, he's far better known by his stage name, Kodak Black.

New York Times study we mentioned earlier on in the week has shed light on a lot of the listening habits of Americans when it comes to artists who have cracked the upper echelon of the Billboard charts this past spring. For example, Eminem was more popular in whiter, rural areas in the Midwest and South, Migos and Future were most popular on the East Coast, but Black seems to have a stranglehold on the certain cities in Florida, including Sarasota and Bradenton.

In fact, according to the Bradenton Herald, the rapper has the most listened-to songs in those cities and is popular in other major cities throughout the state. His music videos for "There He Go" and "Tunnel Vision" also scored extremely high in Bradenton and Sarasota respectively. Other young rappers that are popular in that area of Florida include Lil Yachty, Post Malone and Lil Uzi Vert.

Kodak Black has had his profile raised in a non-musical way as well, with his various run-ins with the law and his recent stint in prison ensuring that his name stayed in the tabloids throughout the last couple of years.
