David Letterman is coming back to TV.

Like rappers, it's hard to narrow down the greatest late night television host of all time. While it largely comes down to personal preference, there were many who felt David Letterman was worthy of that title. The popular late night host retired from his show in 2015, but fans will be pleased to know that Letterman will be making a television return as soon as next year.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Netflix has picked up a series starring Letterman. The series, as of yet untitled, is said to run for a total of six episodes. The series will allegedly involve Letterman having hour long conversations with his guests, as well as engaging in segments that go beyond the scope of his office.

"I feel excited and lucky to be working on this project for Netflix," says Letterman. "Here's what I have learned, if you retire to spend more time with your family, check with your family first. Thanks for watching, drive safely."

In the same report, Netflix' Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos hyped the show, saying "David Letterman is a true television icon, and I can’t wait to see him out in the wild, out from behind the desk and interviewing the people he finds most interesting. We’ll have to see if he keeps the beard."

Here's hoping. The beard was a good look.
