A book about the most important rap songs of each calendar year, from the late-1970's until now, is being turned into a TV series, as per Variety.
AMC is said to be developing Shea Serrano's best-seller The Rap Yearboook into its own series that will fall under the "AMC: Visionaries" umbrella. According to the industry report, the show "will debate and deconstruct the most important moments and songs from the biggest years in the history of hip-hop with each episode centered on the story of one key song but featuring a special guest MC as well as a select group of core contributors including legendary rap artists, acclaimed music experts and other fresh voices."
AMC president Charlie Collier is enthused about the upcoming project, saying that "'AMC Visionaries' is all about going deep into areas of fan passion [...] hip-hop royalty Ahmir 'Questlove' Thompson and Tariq 'Black Thought' Trotter will bring fans a unique look at the stories behind hip-hop's global influence. We're all in and excited for these leaders to share their vision."
