Kyrie Irving's request to be traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers, and foregoing an opportunity to compete for an NBA title so long as LeBron is around, was reportedly influenced by a conversation he had with pastor Carl Lentz of Hillsong Church.
According to TMZ,
"Church sources tell us Kyrie, who's been an active member for a long time, met with Lentz earlier this month about his desires to step out of LeBron James' shadow. We're told Lentz didn't tell Kyrie to "leave Cleveland" -- instead he listened to Kyrie's concerns, and encouraged him to make the decision he felt was best."
TMZ Sports also noted that Kyrie's relationship with LeBron was among the things he and Lentz discussed during their meeting, which seems to have influenced his decision.
Justin Bieber recently cancelled the remaining dates on his Purpose Tour after reportedly spending the last few months with Lentz.
Kyrie, Bieber and Lentz all hung out together in Los Angeles about a week ago.
