In the latest, creative series by Pigeons and Planes, "What Had Happened Was," Cube shares a story of back in the day, before NWA was"hot" as Cube puts it.
The crew rolls up to New York for a "new music seminar" and are invited to perform at the coveted Apollo theater. However, before they even get a line out, the fans take on look at Ice Cube's Jerry Curls and immediately begin to boo the group. Of course, when Cube returned years later as a solo artist, fans couldn't get enough of him and there was a line-up to catch his show.
He also recounts running into Run DMC and getting some words of advice. Take a look at the full, animated video below.
